The greatest sign of success for a teacher… is to be able to say, “The children are now working as if I did not exist.”

Anoo Mammen is thrilled and honoured to be joining the staff at ABC Montessori as the children’s yoga teacher. Both her daughters are graduates of the preschool and during their time there, she came to recognize how well the principles and practices of yoga and Montessori complement each other.
Anoo was raised in a family and culture immersed in yoga’s physical and philosophical aspects and has been practicing yoga in one form or another since childhood. She deepened her practice after having children and formalized her years of study with a certification in adult yoga (RYT 200) and specialty certification in children’s yoga (RCYT).
Anoo believes in the transformative benefits of introducing yoga to children and is committed to helping them improve learning and focus, handle stress, practice acceptance and compassion, be physically active, and of course get silly and have fun through a unique and playful child-centred approach to yoga.
Motoko
I have been playing the piano since I was six years old. From the age of six to eighteen I learned piano from the Tokyo Music Academy. After high school, I took private lessons from Mr. Mitsuru Nagai in Japan, where he taught me classical and hymnal pieces. I have lived in Vancouver since 2009. I am a mother of three kids. I think it is important to expose children to music from an early age, I look forward to working with the children!
